About
I am chiefly interested in the literatures of diaspora, exile and conflict, and tend to use a cultural and/or postcolonial studies approach to erect my analyses of the same. Recent related research work in transcultural intersections excites me. On the pedagogical front, I am currently in the process of developing an introductory course that will attempt to bridge the gap between World Literature in theory and in practice.
I began graduate studies en route to a PhD in Comparative Literature at the Department of Comparative Literature at SUNY Binghamton in the Fall of 2008 after completing the BA with honors in Comparative Literature from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India. I will take the MA exam in Comparative Literature in the Fall of 2009 from SUNY Binghamton.
As a Teaching Assistant, I am responsible for creating my own syllabi and grading rubrics in accordance with university policies regarding required General Education courses with a composition and humanities component. Typical class size is that of 20 students. I also maintain a collaborative course blog for the courses I teach.
My teaching interests include:
• World Literature (Fall 2009 course syllabus forthcoming)
• British Literature Survey
• Literary Criticism
• South Asian Languages
• The Contemporary Novel
• 20th Century Fiction
